Sclerosis

Sclerosis is a hardening - and is read as a deep resistance to life made physical. The pattern is read as feeling trapped, "caged," and increasingly limited, met not with yielding but with rigidity: the self bracing and hardening against a life it resists rather than flowing with it. The short explanation's "severe resistance to life" is exactly that hardening. Relief is described as softening the resistance, letting life move one rather than bracing against it, and easing the felt sense of being caged.
