Mastitis
Mastitis (breast inflammation)
Fear of motherhood, mostly because of feelings of inadequacy.
Mastitis inflames the breast in relation to mothering and nurturing. The pattern is being worn out - very tired after childbirth, or feeling one must sacrifice oneself for family, work or a cause until one has "had enough" and frustrations accumulate. It can also be read as feeling too "mothered" oneself, or as being too hard on oneself in the role of nurturer. The short explanation's "fear of motherhood, mostly because of feelings of inadequacy" sits in that overwhelmed, self-sacrificing strain. Relief is described as recognising that constant self-sacrifice prevents one from flourishing, easing the demand on oneself, and allowing oneself to be nurtured too.
Example from the findings: mastitis is read as the strain of over-sacrificing as a nurturer until frustration accumulates.
