Leprosy
Leprosy
Feeling of having been abandoned by life.
Leprosy is read through a feeling of not having what it takes to carry one's own life and responsibilities. The pattern, as the framework frames it, is a person who feels fundamentally unequipped and, beneath it, abandoned - left without the resources or support to meet life, so that one's contact with the world (the skin) and one's sensitivity (the nerves) are read as withdrawing. The short explanation's "feeling of having been abandoned by life" is exactly that. Relief is described as recovering a sense of being equipped and supported enough to take up one's own life, and no longer feeling cast out.
(Note: this is a metaphysical interpretation; leprosy (Hansen's disease) is a treatable infectious illness requiring medical care.)
Example from the findings: leprosy is read as feeling unequipped to assume one's life and, beneath it, abandoned by it.
