Insomnia
Insomnia / sleeplessness
Excessive mental and/or emotional stress.
Insomnia is read as a deep fear of letting go. To sleep is to release control and become, for a time, defenceless, so a person who feels insecure keeps the mind busy with scenarios and invented worries to hold sleep at bay. Underneath runs anguish and guilt, sometimes a sense that one must stay on guard against some danger, with an old feeling that one's security was once threatened. At night, cut off from everyone else, one is left alone with what is inside - and resisting that inner voice keeps one awake. The short explanation's "excessive mental and emotional stress" is that night-time vigilance. Relief is described as feeling safe enough to surrender control and let go into rest, trusting that one can release the watch.
Example from the findings: sleeplessness is tied to a fear of abandoning control and to staying on guard against a danger one cannot name.
