Hypogalactia (Deficient Secretion of Milk)

Difficulty producing milk is read through a strained acceptance of the mothering role. The pattern is finding it hard to accept being a mother - feeling the child curtails one's freedom, perceiving oneself as a "milk machine," struggling to build the bond that seems so natural for others, and growing anxious because the child depends on one. Underneath is poor self-esteem: "how can I give my baby the love and nourishment I cannot give myself?" - so one redoubles effort while forgetting the woman in oneself. The short explanation's "fear of motherhood, mostly because of feelings of inadequacy" is exactly that. Relief is described as giving oneself the love and tenderness one needs first, easing the demand on oneself, and not letting the woman be wholly eclipsed by the mother.
