Colic

Colic (cramping pain)

Not being able to stomach false statements.

Colic is read as the gut clenching under great inner tension - a situation that makes one feel vulnerable and so irritated that it "gives one the colic." The pattern is impatience and irritation at a person or situation one cannot control, mixed with self-doubt: a fear of not being up to it and not knowing how to solve the problem. In an infant it is read as picking up a caregiver's anxiety - the worry of not doing enough - and clenching in turn, which is why calm and reassurance ease it. The short explanation's "not being able to stomach false statements" sits in that irritated, can't-take-it tension. Relief is described as letting go, trusting that things work out, and easing the impatience the gut is gripping around.

Example from the findings: the cramping gut is read as irritation and self-doubt at a situation one cannot control - and, in babies, as absorbed anxiety.
