Cardiomyopathy

A diseased heart muscle is read through the heart as the organ of love, the muscle itself worn down. The pattern is read as a heart labouring for years under a love-wound: a belief that one is not loved or not worthy of love, met by trying to earn love through relentless effort and by treating life as a combat to survive, until the muscle is exhausted and joy is stifled. The short explanation's "excessive emotional and mental stress" is that love-starved, overworked heart. Relief is described as letting oneself be loved without earning it, beginning with oneself, easing the survival stance, and letting joy nourish the heart muscle again.
