Abscesses

An abscess pockets pus under pressure, and the pattern is anger and hurt that cannot find a clean outlet. It follows an affront hard to accept - irritation, a sense of failure or humiliation, even a wish for revenge - that one does not express, so it ferments inside the way the pus gathers. Often a painful past humiliation is still present, doubted over, never resolved. The short explanation's "severe suppressed anger and thoughts of revenge" is exactly that fermenting, unexpressed hostility. Relief is described as bringing the anger and the old affront to the surface and expressing it cleanly, rather than letting it gather and turn toxic inside.
